Amid the high-profile investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, the mother of one of the prime accused, Raj Singh Kushwaha, has claimed her son is being falsely implicated.

Speaking to ANI, she pleaded for justice, saying, “My son is just 20 years old. He is innocent and incapable of such a crime. He worked at the factory run by Sonam’s brother. I request the government to prove his innocence.”

Raj’s sister also echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Raj never went anywhere. You can verify this with his office colleagues. Both Vicky and Raj are innocent. They would never be involved in something like this.”

Raj Singh Kushwaha is among four individuals arrested in the case, alongside Sonam Raghuvanshi (wife of the deceased and alleged mastermind), Akash Rajput, and Vishal Singh Chauhan. All four are currently in Indore and will be taken to Shillong by Meghalaya Police after transit remand procedures.

Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed that the arrests have been made in coordination with Meghalaya Police. “Three were remanded yesterday, and the fourth was taken into custody today. All will be taken to Shillong later today,” he said.

The murder case has gripped national attention, with Sonam allegedly hiring contract killers to eliminate her husband, Raja, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Following the crime, she went missing but was later found near a roadside eatery in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur and placed in protective custody before being handed over to Meghalaya Police.

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong confirmed that four arrests have been made and that authorities are still searching for one more suspect. He noted that Sonam voluntarily surrendered to police.

According to SIT Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, the post-mortem report indicated Raja suffered two fatal head injuries. Raja and Sonam, both residents of Indore, had gone missing during their honeymoon before Raja’s body was discovered in Meghalaya.

Investigations are ongoing as the case unfolds, with the accused now being transported to Shillong for further interrogation.
